This holiday season, we invite you to take part in Charleston’s most-cherished Christmas tradition. Join Circa 1886 Restaurant and the Charming Inns family of historic hotels for the 32nd Annual Progressive Dinner. Guests are invited to start the evening with hors d’oeuvres at the Historic Kings Courtyard Inn, travel by carriage to Circa 1886 restaurant for a three-course dinner, and travel by carriage to the Historic John Rutledge House Inn where the evening will end with coffee and dessert. Guests can look forward to a delicious and unforgettable evening.

Stop 1: Hors d’ oeuvres at the Kings Courtyard Inn 

Your evening will begin at 5:30 pm at the historic Kings Courtyard Inn. Get in the holiday spirit with the Mulled Cider and Bourbon Eggnog. Enjoy one of the open-air courtyards, or step inside by the fire and enjoy bites of Hoisin Glazed Beef Satay, Gouda Arancini, Chicken Tartlets, Shrimp Cocktail, and Assorted Cheeses and Fruit.

Stop 2: Dinner at Circa 1886 Restaurant

On your carriage ride, the quiet, the tree-lined streets of Charleston will lead you to Circa 1886 Restaurant, located on the grounds of the luxurious Wentworth Mansion. Chef Marc Collins has created an exquisite three-course menu. Start with a sampling of White Cheddar Soup and a Baby Arugula Salad with Pecans, Crumbled Feta, Golden Raisins, Pear and Mustard Dressing before enjoying the main course. Choose from a Berkshire Pork Chop with Vanilla Bean Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, Meyer Lemon Pan Sauce or Dill Lacquered Salmon with Sour Cream Grits, Roasted Carrots, Pimento Beurre Blanc with Wild Rice Artichoke Pilaf and Garlic Creamed Spinach Sauce.

Stop 3: Dessert and Coffee at the John Rutledge House Inn

After a carriage ride through Charleston’s charming and well-decorated historic district, you will wind down with coffee and dessert at the John Rutledge House Inn. Guests will make their way to the ballroom where Pastry Chef Scott Lovorn will leave guests dreaming of sugar plums dancing in their heads. Guests will delight in an assortment of petit fours and cookies along with Scott’s signature holiday confections: Green Apple Gingerbread Cake with Sorghum Buttercream and Candy Cane Pluff Mud Pie.
