Today, the Circa 1886 team spent the day helping feed Charleston’s hungry in conjunction with the Charleston Chefs Feed the Need program. Chef Marc Collins prepared Chicken, Succotash, Rice and Salad, and then our team went to The Neighborhood House to serve the lunch. The Neighborhood House was established in 1915 and has been serving Charleston’s needy for nearly a century!
The Charleston Chefs Feed the Need program was created in 2009 to eliminate some of the burden that area soup kitchens and shelters are facing in today’s economic environment. Currently, fifty-two Charleston restaurants come together to provide one meal each week to help lighten the load on our local shelters. Our restaurant has been participating in the Feed the Need program since 2009. The goal of Feed The Need is to serve approximately 500 meals per week using four different service venues.
Since its inception, the Charleston Chefs Feed the Need program has served over 25,000 lunches and has saved over $75,000 in food expenses for the local shelters. We are pleased to participate in such a wonderful program!
