It’s only ten days into the new year and already, we’re off to a running start. After coming down from an amazing month of holiday Progressive Dinners in December, our Executive Chef Marc Collins debuted an incredible new winter menu. Adding to that excitement, Charleston Restaurant Week is now officially upon us and we’ve received word that we again have been crowned with AAA’s prized Four Diamond Restaurant Award. We’ll accept our award on the evening of Monday, January 14th at The Riviera Theater on historic King Street in excellent company – with some of Charleston’s finest chefs and restauranteurs.
2013 marks the ninth consecutive year that Circa 1886 has been honored this elite AAA distinction. Last year, only eight other restaurants in our foodie city wore the Four-Diamond crown. This is a great honor for our restaurant, and one we’ve carried since 2004, only four years after opening.
AAA is one of the country’s most long-standing authorities on all that is dining and travel. An incognito inspector visits the restaurant each year to ensure that we are in keeping with the same level of excellence as in years past. What does a Four-Diamond ranking really mean, you ask? We turned to AAA for the answer:
“AAA Diamond ratings for restaurants represent a combination of the overall food, service, décor and ambiance offered by the establishment. The descriptive ratings are assigned exclusively to establishments that meet and uphold AAA’s rigorous quality standards.
Four-Diamonds stand for a distinctive fine-dining experience. Often an executive chef and accomplished staff. Menus reflect high degree of creativity and complexity using imaginative presentations to enhance market-fresh ingredients. Proficient service staff meets or exceeds guest expectations. Wine steward typically available. Ambiance is highly refined, comfortable and well-coordinated, incorporating quality materials and upscale design enhancements for a first-class impression…”
The bottom line: we at Circa 1886 strive for excellence- in everything we do. Whether its a colorful dinner presentation, a perfect wine suggestion or a specially decorated dessert for your anniversary, our team is dedicated to delivering an amazing dining experience. We hope that you’ll join us this winter for one of the many fun dinners and events happening in the restaurant and around Charleston. Stay tuned for more details and in the meantime, don’t forget to make your Restaurant Week reservations while tables are still open.
