“Only if for a night…” Florence Welch sings on her latest album Ceremonials. Perhaps she wrote the song in anticipation of her recent overnight stay here at the Wentworth Mansion?
Though we may never know the answer, we certainly enjoyed hosting Miss Welch at the Wentworth Mansion this past weekend. Florence was reportedly in Charleston for the wedding of friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. People Magazine reports that Miss Welch sang three songs at the wedding. Of her trip to Charleston, the magazine reports Florence saying, “We had a lovely time. I only wish we could have stayed longer.”
Florence is not only known for her hauntingly beautiful voice, but her always-stylish ensembles. She made quite an impression on those who spotted her in Charleston. Take a gander at People Magazine’s account of she and Blake Lively’s friendship through fashion.
The Lively-Reynolds wedding took place in the nearby suburb of Mount Pleasant at Boone Hall Plantation. The plantation is a just short and scenic drive from our luxury inn downtown. True romantics and wedding planners might recognize the setting from the movie “The Notebook.” Boone Hall Plantation is a lovely wedding locale – and a “don’t miss” during any Charleston vacation. You won’t soon forget the vision of sun filtering through the famous Avenue of Oaks – a long dirt road lined with live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss.
After this weekend’s famous nuptials, we imagine the Boone Hall Plantation will host many more upcoming “I do’s.” Should you find yourself planning a Charleston wedding, consider a Wentworth Mansion wedding as well. We have a variety of gorgeous locations for bridal suites, ceremonies and rehearsal dinners. View them here.

Congratulations to Blake and Ryan! And Florence, we hope you are able to stay longer on your next visit to Charleston.
