With the help of a secret-weapon ingredient, you can make homemade gelato in less than 5 minutes. Zesty Buttermilk Gelato

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice (Meyer Lemon Juice if available)
2 cups half-and-half
2 cups whole milk
2 cups buttermilk
2 lbs dry ice
 

Place sugar and juice in a large bowl and whisk until sugar dissolves. Add half-and-half, whole milk, and buttermilk. Crush the dry ice into a powder and add to mixer until the liquid is frozen. If you are using an ice cream machine, freeze the mixture according to your ice cream machines requirements. Cover and freeze 1 hour or until firm.
