Holidays Dining and Entertainment Tour – Heyward Washington House – Tuesday, December 11th

Similar to our John Rutledge House Inn, the Heyward Washington House played host to President George Washington back in the day. If you’ve ever wondered how to entertain and decorate in true Southern style, here’s your chance. Tour the home to see elaborate holiday table settings and beautifully decorated entertaining spaces. Plus, peek inside the c. 1740 kitchen building and learn about open hearth cooking… Take notes! $10 for adults, $5 for children. More details here.

Middleton Place Grand Illumination and Dinner – Thursday, December 13th
Celebrate Christmas as the Middleton family would have in 1782, right after the British left Charleston, signaling the end of the Revolutionary War. Stroll through the plantation’s beautiful gardens illuminated by torchlight, candlelight, and starlight with costumed interpreters’ holiday stories along the way. The plantation home will of course be decorated and “glowing in candlelight.” Add in a warm fire, live music and a buffet dinner? Sounds like the perfect night to us. Tickets are $45. Step back in time and reserve your seat!

“The Great Charleston Holiday Market, Food Truck, Music, Art Showcase Bonanza Thing” – Friday + Saturday, December 14-15th

Take a few of Charleston’s hottest trends, add a little holiday spin and you have yourself almost too much festive fun for one night. Hop on up to Holy City Brewery in North Charleston with an appetite and your Christmas shopping list. You’ll have the chance to nosh on delicious food truck fare, sip on an icy cold local beer and shop for some very cool locally-made gifts. Don’t miss this two-day event!

Each of our downtown inns have special rates for your holiday enjoyment this December. Take a look at our special weekday and weekend rates at King Street’s Fulton Lane Inn and Kings Courtyard Inn, where rates start at just $149/night. You can also get a dose of history and hospitality at the John Rutledge House Inn or stay in the lap of luxury at the beautifully-decorated Wentworth Mansion.
