History is woven through every inch of the John Rutledge House Inn, set appropriately in the center of a city often referred to as a “Living Museum.” After departing the John Rutledge House Inn, we ask our guests to summarize their favorite Charleston experience. Our bed and breakfast on Broad Street places straight-from-the-history-books sites and experiences at your fingertips. It comes as no surprise that history-themed experiences always rank highly on our guests’ lists.
In just a few words and Instagram photos (follow us @charminginns), we present a recent round-up of our guests’ favorite Charleston memories.
“Charleston is knee deep in early American history, especially [evident in its] architecture. The Rutledge House fills the historical bill and architectural bill. The location is dead set in the middle of historical Charleston and everything is within walking distance.”
“We enjoyed the overall beauty of the city, especially the historic homes and the landscaping.”
“Our favorite Charleston experience was a Thursday night ‘Candlelight Home Tour’ by the Preservation Society in the South Battery neighborhood.”
“We’ll remember the history and the water. This was our first time in Charleston. We were impressed with it all and would like to come back.”
“We felt like we were part of history staying at the John Rutledge House Inn. We lived in Charleston twice back in the 1970′s while in the Navy, so this was a memory lane trip… We really enjoyed the carriage tour with Polo Tours. Tom, our guide, has an encyclopedic knowledge of Charleston and we were greatly entertained and educated by his commentary.”
“I really hated to leave this place… it really has a southern feel to it. I consider Charleston to be one of my homes, at the John Rutledge House Inn I felt like I’d taken a step back in time and was having a unique and awesome experience. I was really impressed. Can’t stop talking about my stay.”
