Tips from Our Concierge: Romance in Charleston

Romantic Places in Charleston

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, three of the Wentworth Mansion’s finest concierges, Aly, Stephanie and Mark, shared their picks for downtown Charleston’s most romantic destinations.

This trio is expert on all things Charleston – especially when it comes to finding that perfect place to steal away for a romantic moment. (They’ve even been known to help stage wedding proposals!) Here are a few places you might feel Cupid strike in Charleston.

Aly says:

“The best way to start a date night on the East Bay Street side of town is a sunset walk along the Battery and White Point Gardens. For appetizers and drinks before dinner, try Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar for a beer and oysters. It’s a great location with a low key atmosphere. Or, go to Fleet Landing Restaurant for a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the harbor. Gorgeous!

For dinner, the most excellent food is at FIG Restaurant. For dessert, head over to Belgian Gelato on Vendue Range and grab a cup of the Stracciatella. Enjoy it on the pier at Waterfront Park before walking back along the Battery. Perfect night!

If you’re more in the mood for King Street, start out with a  glass of wine at Bin 152. It’s quiet and fun with a great selection. And when you’re on this side of town, our Circa 1886 Restaurant is the best place for a romantic dinner. Definitely don’t skip dessert!  After that, you’ll need a little walking, so head down to the bar at Pane e Vino. It is the most romantic, beautiful bar in Charleston. Definitely my favorite place to wrap up an evening out.”

Stephanie says:

“I love telling guests about the courtyard at Kudu Coffee Shop and the romantic patio seating at Rue De Jean and Pane e Vino. At Waterfront Park they have a pier that looks over the beautiful Charleston harbor with swinging benches, perfect for cuddling.

The same goes for Wentworth Mansion. It’s nice to see the guests take advantage of the tables and benches we have outside. Even at winter time the weather can be mild here which can be a welcome novelty for those visiting from harsh winter places.”

Mark says:

“Begin with a private carriage ride through downtown. Bring a picnic along, and when the ride is over, settle in to White Point Gardens or Waterfront Park for the rest of the afternoon.”

The Wentworth Mansion always sets the stage for an unforgettable romantic getaway. Plan a retreat to Charleston and indulge in luxury and world-class service with our Sweetheart Package, or steal away for our Nights of Romance Package. Aly, Stephanie, Mark and the rest of the Wentworth Mansion team will be here to help plan an amazing few days in Charleston.

This is such great info and we love Charleston. Would love to stay at Wentworth, but it’s just so pricey for the “common man”. I realize Charleston is not a budget vacation but I do wish the nicer Inns (ie: Charming Inns) were made to be more affordable – but I do appreciate the ‘specials’ and the tips..great information!
