Top Honors from TripAdvisor

Miss Betty Wentworth Mansion
On the heels of a wonderful year – one of our best yet- the Wentworth Mansion received more fabulous news this morning. TripAdvisor reviewers awarded us three honors in the 2013 Traveler’s Choice Awards. The Mansion has officially been named:

#2 Best Small Hotel in the U.S.
#2 Best Luxury Hotel in the U.S.
#9 Top Hotel for Service in the U.S.

These honors are due to the wonderful memories and reviews our guests share with the TripAdvisor community. As our Innkeeper Noreen Marchant mentioned in a recent interview, the Mansion’s small size means our guests get an intimate and special experience, and lots of face time with our entire team.Kenneth in the Breakfast Room

We love the little anecdotes left behind on TripAdvisor. In light of our top honors and in recognition of our amazing staff (now officially, one of the 10 best hotel staffs in America!!), we thought we’d share some fun words from our guests.

Birthday Surprises: “The Wentworth staff was friendly, professional and spot-on.. I had requested a “piece of cake” for my daughter’s 11th birthday to surprise her when we arrived. Not only did they surprise us with a huge red-velvet cake from a local bakery, but also balloons and a hand-written letter to wish my daughter happy birthday.”

Traveling with Dogs: “We just returned from a 3 night stay with my husband of almost 40 years plus our 2 Boston Terriers. We travel to a different city each year and have stayed in 5 star hotels before, but I must commend the staff and owner on this lovely mansion. We felt very welcome and “at home.” They were very gracious to our dogs as well, called them by name and had nice treats in bags for them when we arrived and were greeted at our car.”

62nd Wedding Anniversaries: “Since we were making a quick trip to Charleston and had a large group, Noreen [Innkeeper] offered to make dinner and lunch reservations for us during our stay. This was no easy task as many of the restaurants in Charleston are in old historic buildings and are not [wheelchair] accessible. I have no doubt that Noreen spent quite a bit of time finding just the right restaurants for our party…including a lovely restaurant where we celebrated my parents’ 62nd wedding anniversary. She also arranged for a cake. Upon arrival, my folks found flowers in their room as well as a lovely gift basket, with Noreen’s very personal touch.”

The Royal Treatment: “From the moment we checked in we were treated like royalty… The staff take you back in time when service was considered important. I especially want to mention Ken, Stephanie, Christian and Joe. They were all great and made us feel that we were visiting their home… It is something we will always remember.”

So good, they considered moving: “They have everything covered. Everyone from the innkeepers to the cleaning staff, not only made us feel welcome, but also had a deep knowledge of Charleston which they happily shared with us, when asked. After a conversation with Kenneth the Assistant Innkeeper, we actually began thinking about moving to Charleston permanently. They truly love their little luxury hotel and their city. We may never move to Charleston, but we will certainly make it a point to visit the mansion as often as possible.”

See what other guests are saying- and if you’ve yet to leave behind a review of your stay, we’d love to hear from you! If it’s been too long since your last trip to the Mansion, take a peek at our upcoming specials and packages.
