The John Rutledge House Inn is located within walking distance to some of Charleston's most popular historic attractions and picturesque scenes. We've created the ultimate itinerary for a Pet Friendly vacation in Charleston with your pup. Walk to the Battery Walking along the water at the Battery is one of the most refreshing things you can do downtown. The ocean breeze blowing and the beautiful homes lining the streets make this the perfect place for a stroll. Head to Waterfront Park Looking for the perfect place for a picnic? Waterfront Park has swings, fountains and a beautiful view of the Ravenel Bridge making it a wonderful spot to settle down and eat a bite. There is also a dog park nearby if your pup needs to socialize and get their energy out. French Quarter   Go to the Beach   Leash Laws Sullivans                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Off-leash dogs can be on Sullivan's Island from 5:00 am to 10:00 am and leashed dogs can be on the beach from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am. Dogs are not permitted on the beach between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. All dogs on Sullivan Island, including day visitors and vacation renters, must have a town-issued dog permit to visit the island, including the beach. Town Hall (located at 2050-B Middle Street) issues annual permits for $35 per dog. Completed applications and proof of valid rabies vaccination are required for permit.

Folly Beach
Dogs are allowed on the beach any time from October 1 to April 30. Between May 1 and September 30, dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10:00 am-6:00 pm. Dogs must be leashed at all times, no matter the time of year.
Isle of Palms
From 5:00AM until 8:00AM April 1st through September 14th and 4:00PM until 10:00AM September 15th through March 31st. Dog owners must have leash in hand.  At all other times, dogs must be on leash and under complete control, even in the water.
