In Charleston, you don’t have to travel far to get the great view of a Lowcountry sunset. We compiled our favorite places to watch a Lowcountry sunset in Charleston. Grab a camera and some friends to witness the natural beauty of our city.
The Waterfront Park
The popular Charleston attraction is home to the famous Pineapple Fountain. During the summer, the Pineapple fountain is used as a waterhole for small children but you are guaranteed to see stunning views year-round. Stroll through the park and find your seat for the perfect viewing.
White Point Garden
Located in the historic district of Charleston, this park offers stunning views of the Ashley River. This park is popular with locals and tourists alike because of the large shady oak trees and plentiful free parking. There is plenty of park sitting but for this location, we recommend grabbing a blanket and stretching out in the lush green grass for the perfect viewing of a Lowcountry sunset.
Folly Beach
While Folly Beach is a great place to be during the day, evenings are worth the wait. Whether you are making a day trip to the beach or just came for the golden hour, anytime spent at Folly Beach is considered a win. You can catch a view of the sunset at a rooftop bar or on the pier, the best view can be found strolling on the beach. Don’t forget to bring a camera for endless photo opportunities.
Ravenel Bridge
Grab your best running shoes and head to the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The 2.5 Mile pedestrian path offers an unparalleled view of the holy city. Watch the sunset set over the SS Yorktown, Fort Sumter, and Copper River at a birds-eye-view.
