Charleston by Water

From early morning walks along the beach or the battery, to sunset sails through the harbor, this is the perfect time to explore Charleston by water. Below are a few of our favorite ways to discover the city and its waterways. Charleston-by-Water Walk the Charleston Battery - It's best to stroll the battery in the calm of the morning. The Charleston Battery and Rainbow Row are not only historic but by far the most picturesque scenes on the peninsula. From the shade of majestic live oaks to the breezes from the harbor, this is the perfect way to start your journey through Charleston. Going to the Beach - Charleston has five pristine beaches, each one with their own personality. While hitting the beach is always a good idea, choosing where to go is another story. Learn more here about our two favorite beaches: Folly Beach and Sullivan's Island. Paddleboarding and Kayaking Shem Creek - Exploring Shem Creek is a great activity for the whole family. Weave the maze of lowcountry estuaries and encounter Charleston's active wildlife. From the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins swimming nearby and Pelicans flying overhead, this is a great way to get an up-close look at Charleston's ecosystem. Sunset Sail through the Harbor - A sunset sail is definitely the most laid-back way to explore Charleston's waterways. Soak in the sea breezes, a glass of wine in hand. Relax and unwind, viewing the incredible sunset and a few more dolphin sightings. Stay at one of our Charming Inns and take advantage of the many ways to explore Charleston by Water. Discover the lowcountry waterways with the The Kings Courtyard Inn's Beach Package, the Adventure and Wellness Package at the Wentworth Mansion, or the Fulton Lane Inn Beach Package.
