Every year, the Charleston Wine + Food Festival provides an amazing weekend where guests experience Charleston's culinary history and food culture, all while savoring mouth-watering dishes from some of the best chefs in the Southeast. The Food and Wine Gastronome package at the John Rutledge House Inn offers an opportunity to fully experience the Charleston Wine + Food Festival. This three night package (March 3-6, 2016) includes accommodations for two people in a standard room in the historic John Rutledge House Inn. Built in 1763, this home is one of only fifteen homes surviving belonging to a signer of the US Constitution, and the only one to now accommodate overnight guests. Located in the historic district of Charleston, the inn is within walking distance to Marion Square – the site of the 2016 Charleston Wine + Food Festival. Food-and-Wine-Gastronome The weekend will begin on Thursday night at Cypress Restaurant for a festival Signature Dinner. There’s no better way to experience the flavors of Charleston’ rich culinary scene than in the dining room of one of the city’s finest restaurants. James Beard award-winning chef and author Jamie Bissonette of Coppa will join forces with acclaimed Charleston chef Craig Deihl for a nose-to-tail-inspired celebration showcasing each chef’s signature style and the freshest Lowcountry ingredients. The dinner will be complimented with wines presented by winemaker Chris Brockway from Broc Cellars. On Friday afternoon, guests will have a chance to get out of town on a shuttle from Marion Square headed out to Of Garden and Grape at Middleton Place, a historic plantation situated on the banks of the Ashley River and boasting a most impressive collection of America’s oldest gardens. Winemakers will be sprinkled throughout the stunning, ever-blooming property, ready to greet you as you roam the grounds at your own leisurely pace. Light fare from regional artisans will be spread all about to keep your curiosity piqued. Your exploration will be complete in the Middleton Pavilion where a flock of award-winning chefs will await! Keep an eye out for roaming peacocks and be sure to pack comfortable shoes for roaming the plantation. On Saturday, guests will enjoy the festival’s Culinary Village at Marion Square. The Village ticket gives you access all day from 12noon until 5pm featuring hundreds of chefs, winemakers, tastemakers, artisans and authors; this is an experience not to be missed. With a new and expanded tasting area - plan on a day filled with tastings, demos, book signings, retail, live music and more flavor than your foodie heart can hold. Sunday morning will prove to be one of the highlights of the weekend with tickets to the famed Sunday Gospel Brunch on the lawn of Ashley Hall School. This event is all soul, y’all - a hand-clappin’ and foot-tappin’ good time! For 2016, a bold choir of chefs will prepare this family-style feast, with brunch cocktails to boost your spirits.
