Wine + Food Gastronome Package

Every year, the Charleston Wine + Food Festival provides an amazing weekend where guests experience Charleston’s culinary history and food culture, all while savoring mouth-watering dishes from some of the best chefs in the Southeast. The Wine + Food Gastronome package at the John Rutledge House Inn offers an opportunity to fully experience the Charleston Wine + Food Festival. This three night package (March 2 -5, 2017) includes accommodations for two people in a standard room in the historic John Rutledge House Inn.  Built in 1763 this home is one of only fifteen homes belonging to those signers of the US Constitution to survive and the only one to now accommodate overnight guests.  Located in the historic district of Charleston the inn is walking distance to Marion Square – the site of the 2017 Wine + Food Festival. Food and Wine Gastronome Package The weekend will begin on Thursday night at Anson’s for a festival Signature Dinner. (7:00-9:30pm) Take a seat in one of Charleston’s longtime favorite dining rooms. Recently renovated, the stunning new space will be the perfect setting for a Southern-inspired menu showcasing the region’s signature flavors. Chef Jeremy Holst will be joined by Chef John Bel (Meauxbar, New Orleans) for a multi-course spread that will be paired with a lineup of incredible wines presented by Todd Graff of Frank Family Vineyards. All served up in true Lowcountry style, this will be a dinner experience you won’t soon forget. On Friday guests will meet a shuttle bus near Marion Square for an afternoon of fun and adventure. Flavor by Design! (1:30pm-5:00pm) Dining out is never just about the food and the drink. Before you actually taste your cocktail or meal, you eat the room. You soak in the lighting, the music, the wait staff style, the finish on the custom bar. Every component bears a story, a decision, a compromise, sometimes even a happy accident. This event will be taking you to some of Charleston’s most striking bars and dining rooms for a bite out of flavor by design. Step inside a bank building-turned-foodie mecca at The Ordinary. Take in the newly built, newly opened, longtime local favorite, Butcher & Bee. Cap the conversation with a cocktail at The Belmont, Upper King Street’s coziest watering hole with endless good vibes. The conversation will be lead by David Thompson; a celebrated local architect knows the Holy City’s dining rooms better than anyone. He’ll lead a discussion with the makers, designers, and decision makers behind these unique spaces. Guests will enjoy small bites and festive sips at each spot while you gobble up a few new ways to savor your favorite restaurant or bar. On Saturday guests will enjoy the festival’s Culinary Village.  (12noon-5pm) The Culinary Village is the heart and soul of Charleston Wine + Food. Located in downtown’s Marion Square, the Village is the ultimate tasting experience. Your Village ticket grants five full hours of all-access tasting and imbibing. Expect to see a new Wine Garden and an expanded live music stage to include exciting demos and one-on-one conversations. The Hub area will be full with even more food and beverage vendors, and the Artisan Market will be stocked full of incredible local and regional makers showcasing their masterful creations and unique flavors. You must plan on leaving plenty of time to explore The Third Space where you’ll find demos and tastings in the Earth, Air, Sea, Land, and Fire areas. Sunday morning will prove to be one of the highlights of the weekend with tickets to the famed Sunday Gospel Brunch (11:00am-1:00pm).What better way to start the final day of Charleston Wine + Food than with a tasty nod to The Holy City’s divine charm and flavor.  For this annual festival favorite, we’ll be gathering at the newly renovated Gibbes Museum, with a sink-your-teeth-in culinary sermon led by a bold choir of Southern chefs who will create  a proper Sunday mornin’ family-style feast. No brunch is complete without Bloody Marys, mimosas, and plenty of hand-clappin, foot-tappin’ hymns by The Plantation Singers.  Enjoy access to the museum’s impressive collection and don’t leave your hat at home.
