Next March, the Charleston Wine + Food Festival will welcome chefs, winemakers, and foodies from across the nation for a five-day celebration of Charleston’s culinary excellence and renowned culture. If you’ve never participated in the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, this year is the perfect opportunity to explore the best of Charleston’s amazing culinary offerings. The Wentworth Mansion has created an exclusive package with tickets to events that will promise the perfect epicurean adventure. food-and-wine-gourmand-1 This exclusive three night package (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) includes accommodations in a mansion room for two people in the luxurious Wentworth Mansion.  Built in 1886 as a private residence, this beautiful mansion is located in downtown Charleston in the historic district just a short walk from Marion Square – the site of the 2017 Wine + Food Festival. Guests begin their weekend Thursday night for an event fittingly called Fowl Mouth! (7:30-10:00pm) Quail, pheasant, turkey, oh my! There will be a well-feathered roundup of chefs for this high-smoke, high-energy culinary adventure featuring all things winged fowl. What the cluck could be better to open your palate to new possibilities? Local craft brews, sultry red wine, and Bulleit Bourbon, that’s what. A special treat will be the venue’s mascot – the great brew heron? Prepare yourself for a full day on Friday starting with the festival’s Culinary Village.  (12noon-5pm) The Culinary Village is the heart and soul of Charleston Wine + Food. Located in downtown’s Marion Square, the Village is the ultimate tasting experience. Your Village ticket grants five full hours of all-access tasting and imbibing. Expect to see a new Wine Garden and an expanded live music stage to include exciting demos and one-on-one conversations. The Hub area will be full with even more food and beverage vendors, and the Artisan Market will be stocked full of incredible local and regional makers showcasing their masterful creations and unique flavors. You must plan on leaving plenty of time to explore The Third Space where you’ll find demos and tastings in the Earth, Air, Sea, Land, and Fire areas. Although the culinary village is open until 5pm, you will have plenty of time to see, taste and drink all there is by heading out at 4:15pm to catch a shuttle (close to the village) for a special dinner – From the Ashes! (4:30-8:30pm) Prepare to be delighted. One of the Lowcountry’s oldest and most stunning plantations will be the backdrop to a most magnificent display of live-fire cooking. Roam the waterside grounds while sampling an array of fire-kissed dishes by a stellar team of talented chefs who will create an innovative menu from the ashes. Sips will include a featured cocktail, as well as wines by Château Pesquié, Mastroberardino, and Monchiero Carbone, and bubbles by Barone Pizzini.   food-and-wine-gourmand-2 After a leisurely breakfast to recharge your batteries your Saturday outing will be a special treat. Iron and Oak (11:30am-2:30pm) It doesn’t get more Southern than this, y’all. Join us for a trip (transportation provided) to the stunning private venue, RiverOaks, for an intimate lunch amid grand live oaks and European-inspired elegance. The menu, prepared in cast iron skillets and cauldrons, will be served alongside a collection of magnificent wines. Charleston’s very own Chef Michelle Weaver will be joined by Chef Jamie Simpson of The Chef’s Garden and Steven Satterfield of Atlanta’s Miller Union on the grounds of RiverOaks for this unforgettable taste of the South. Saturday evening guests will stroll over to the original carriage house behind the Wentworth Mansion to experience Circa 1886 for an amazing Signature dinner. (7:00pm) Indulge in an evening of culinary decadence as Chef Marc Collins welcomes Chef Champe Speidel of Providence’s Permission for a multi-course menu that will showcase both classic and modern techniques. The two will collaborate to create impeccable plates with tremendous flavor. Expertly paired wines selected from the LVMH portfolio will punctuation this one of a kind affair. Sunday morning will prove to be one of the highlights of the weekend with tickets to the famed Sunday Gospel Brunch (11:00am-1:00pm).What better way to start the final day of Charleston Wine + Food than with a tasty nod to The Holy City’s divine charm and flavor.  For this annual festival favorite, we’ll be gathering at the newly renovated Gibbes Museum, with a sink-your-teeth-in culinary sermon led by a bold choir of Southern chefs who will create  a proper Sunday mornin’ family-style feast. No brunch is complete without Bloody Marys, mimosas, and plenty of hand-clappin, foot-tappin’ hymns by The Plantation Singers.  Enjoy access to the museum’s impressive collection and don’t leave your hat at home. Transportation is provided to all festival activities throughout the weekend. The Food and Wine Gourmand Package is limited in availability and is offered at a special rate of $3755.00 (plus 13.5% tax) for two people.
