Get ready to fill your calendar with things to do in Charleston in April! April truly is the beginning of event season in Charleston, and we wanted to help you plan your April itinerary by putting together a few of our favorites.

Lowcountry Strawberry Festival

When: March 31st & April 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2023

Where:  Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens

Take the short commute out to Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens and spend the day at the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival! This multi-day event has plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. From a strawberry pie eating contest to All-American Pony Rides and a giant slide tower, there is fun for everyone! Festival admission starts at $15 for ages three and up.

Festival of Houses and Gardens

When: March 15-April 8, 2023

Where: Various locations

Expand your knowledge of Charleston with the Festival of House and Gardens! This multi-day event is the perfect way to connect with some of Charleston's exquisite gardens and world-renowned historic homes. There are a variety of tours to choose from including Morning History Walks, Live Like a Local Events, and Food for Thought Luncheon Lectures. Ticket pricing varies based on the tour you would like to attend.

Cooper River Bridge Run & Finish Festival

When: April 1, 2023

Where: The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (Mt Pleasant & Downtown Charleston)

Grab your running shoes and experience a world-class 10-K foot race right here in Charleston. Starting off in Mt. Pleasant, runners will get the chance to run through Shem Creek, over the famous Ravenel Bridge, and finish off the race on historic King Street. After crossing the finish line, runners can enjoy food, entertainment, souvenirs, and refreshments at the race's finish festival in Marion Square. Registration ends on March 31, 2023. 

ArtWalk

When: April 7, 2023

Where: Downtown Charleston & Greater Charleston

Immerse yourself in local art at more than 30 galleries during the Charleston Gallery Association’s Artwalk. Taking place on the first Friday of most months, the Artwalk is a fantastic way to meet new people, discover local artists, and find the perfect art piece for your home. Participants have the ability to create their own Artwalk route using the CGA website’s “Charleston Gallery Association Map.” There is no cost of admission to this event. 

Charleston Farmers’ Market

When: Saturdays April 8-November 25, 2023

Where: Marion Square-329 Meeting Street

You will find a variety of local produce, plants, herbs, and cut flowers as well as breakfast and lunch vendors, live entertainment, and an assortment of juried arts and crafts from local artisans every Saturday at the Market.

Lowcountry Cajun Festival

When: April 22, 2023

Where: James Island County Park

This ragin’ Cajun Festival features a full day of Zydeco music, authentic Cajun and Creole food, children’s activities, and more! Charleston’s best Cajun restaurants, caterers, and food trucks will cook up a variety of delicious foods.

Harlem Globetrotters at North Charleston Coliseum

When: April 21, 2023

Where: North Charleston Coliseum

Looking for a show that will entertain the whole family? Look no further than the Harlem Globetrotters at the North Charleston Coliseum. Combining comedy, athleticism, and theater, a trip to see the Harlem Globetrotters is the perfect family outing, sure to create lasting memories! Tickets for the event start at $20.

Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival

When: April 30, 2023

Where: Memorial Waterfront Park

Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival is a day dedicated to paying tribute to Mount Pleasant’s local shrimping and fishing industry. This all-day affair will have live music and food from some of the area's top restaurants, and family-friendly activities. There is no admission to this event and activities are all free! 

Once On This Island” at Dock Street Theater

When: April 12-30, 2023

Where: Dock Street Theater

Experience a show at one of Charleston's historic, premier venues, Dock Street Theater. Running for two weeks throughout the month of April, “Once On This Island” is a romance story starring a peasant girl named Ti Moune and a rich city boy named Daniel. Taking place on a mythical Caribbean Island, this must-see love story is surely one to remember! Tickets start at $36.

Charleston Cocktail Week

When: April 24-30, 2023

Where: Greater Charleston area

Experience handcrafted signature cocktails at a discounted price during Charleston Cocktail Week! During this 7-day event, participants have the opportunity to try cocktails from over 30+ participating venues throughout the Charleston area. From The Darling Oyster Bar to Neon Tiger, there's a spot for everyone on the list! Passes start at $15 per person. 

Charleston Open

When: April 1-9, 2023

Where: Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island

Watch some of the world's top tennis talent and enjoy some thrilling matches at this year's Charleston Open, the largest women's only tennis tournament in North America! Taking place at Credit One Stadium, this newly renovated venue provides a fantastic view of the event to make you feel like you are right in the middle of the action. Tickets are on sale now and range in price depending on the seat and day you plan to attend.
