John Rutledge House Voted 5th Best Hotel in the South

This just in, y'all! Conde Naste Traveler Magazine named The John Rutledge House Inn The 5th Best Hotel in the South and one of the Top 100 Best Hotels in the World! What more can we say than thank you, thank you, thank you to Conde Naste Traveler readers. Our lovely 19-room historic inn and bed and breakfast scored an overall 94.5 out of 100 possible Readers Choice points. The John Rutledge House Inn received Grade-A marks for our rooms, food, service, location and design. Conde Naste Traveler Readers said it best, noting The John Rutledge House Inn as...

A "wonderful small inn with loads of charm" was built as a private residence by a signer of the Constitution. Located near King Street’s restaurants and shops, the "classic elegant antebellum" design includes original plaster moldings and inlaid wood floors, ironwork, and Greek Revival porticos around the front door. The "spacious rooms" have Italian-marble fireplaces, period furnishings, and canopy or four-poster beds, creating a "very romantic ambiance." As a concession to modern times, flat-screen televisions were recently added. Although there is no restaurant on-site, guests take "the exceptional breakfast outside in the quaint courtyard" or delivered to their room. "From check-in to departure, we were treated like family."
