Second Sundays: Dancing on the Pier and Sunrise at Sumter

With so much to do and see in Charleston, it’s often difficult for visitors to decide how to direct their energies.

To that end, we offer up a few suggestions, beginning with these three events. First, be sure to check out Second Sunday on King Street. Browse the shops of King Street at your leisure, and be on the lookout for bargains. You’ll find some terrific sales, food, wine, and additional special events and activities. Upcoming dates are August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, and December 9.

Next, don’t miss the final evening of the Friday Night Boogie Series on July 13 at Mount Pleasant Pier. Come on out and show off your dance moves at the end of a 1,250-foot pier to tunes spun by DJ Jim Bowers. Cool off in the breeze with cold drinks and views of the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor. Finally, capture a bit of history with a sunrise visit to our famous Fort Sumter. Stroll around, explore, and glean historical tidbits from the rangers of the National Park Service. “Sunrise at Fort Sumter” is ongoing through October 26.
