Springtime in Charleston

Charleston has been enjoying sunny 70 degree days, leading up to the start of spring in just a few days. If the warm breezes and blooming flowers aren't enough of a draw, the coming weeks will be filled with multiple festivals. You can choose between the Festival of Houses and Gardens, the Charleston Antiques Show, Spoleto Festival USA and more! Whether you are traveling for the water, sunshine or unique festivals, we know Charleston is always a good idea. Read below about each of the unique festivals that make springtime in Charleston so exciting.

Historic Charleston Foundation's Charleston Antiques Show

Antique-hunters and history buffs, rejoice, The Annual Charleston International Antique Show is back! Hosted by the Historic Charleston Foundation, the International Antique Show has long been a favorite springtime activity for our guests. Set against a perfect backdrop of blooming flowers, this annual weekend in late March also serves as the official kick-off to the foundation’s Festival of Homes and Gardens.  This year’s impressive list of Antique Show exhibitors and extra-curricular event lineup will guarantee a car full of treasures.

Historic Charleston Foundation's Festival of Houses and Garden

Set in the heart of the Charleston’s Old & Historic District, this series of award-winning tours and events showcase Charleston’s distinctive architecture, history, gardens, and culture. The tours provide an opportunity for guests to go inside the private houses and gardens of America’s most beautiful historic residences. From daily morning walks through the Historic District, to plantation tours, wine tastings, and lectures for even the most seasoned gardeners, the Festival of Houses and Gardens is sure to entertain and educate all patrons. There has never been a better time to visit Charleston. The tours begin on March 15th and run until April 21st. We recommend making your reservation early, to ensure tickets are available.

Spoleto Festival USA

Each Spring, our fine Southern city transforms into a destination for the performing arts with the 17-day Spoleto Festival. Whether you are interested in seeing a contemporary ballet, or a lively folk concert at the Riverdogs Stadium, this highly recognized and internationally acclaimed festival has something for everyone. Charleston’s creative culture truly comes alive as this festival transforms 13 venues and presents 152 shows. We are thrilled to be right in the center of all the action!
