What We Do
Charming Inns® is a family-owned and operated collection of historic inns and restaurant in the beloved city of Charleston. Founded in 1982 by Richard Widman, we take pride in honoring the unique histories of each of our one-of-a-kind properties.
Our Values
Richard Widman, our founder and chairman, describes hospitality as the ability to help guests “create a special memory,” and that definition carries over into everything we do. From our friendly staff to our unique services to the very feel of each of our properties, Charming Inns® always stays true to our core values: Family, Service, History, and Comfort.
What Makes Us Uniquely Charming
We’re dedicated to the community
By supporting local businesses, contributing to valued charities, and staying involved in citywide events, such as the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, we at Charming Inns® remain committed to bettering our beloved community.

We represent true Southern hospitality
Look up Southern hospitality in a dictionary and you might just find a photo of our friendly staff. With deluxe amenities—such as complimentary breakfast in bed—and courteous services—like our 24-hour concierges—you’ll feel right at home with Charming Inns®.
What Makes Us Uniquely Charming
We are family-owned and operated
In 1982, Richard Widman founded Charming Inns® as a labor of love. Many employees that were once bellmen and concierges have since become important members of management, and the team has ultimately become a family, united by a shared love of Charleston.
